SCOTT HELLER
Born and raised in Woodmere, New York, Scott first began taking music lessons on violin in the third grade. He continued on the instrument until 10th grade, when he switched to the much “cooler” instrument, bass guitar. He began studying his new instrument with renowned jazz bassist Mike Frost and shortly thereafter began playing in rock cover bands with other local teens. From there, he continued his musical studies first at the University Of Miami and then at Berklee College Of Music.
After college, he went on a summer tour in Eastern Canada with the band Velvet Jones. At the tour’s conclusion, he returned to Long Island and began playing with numerous cover and original bands. The most notable of the original bands was Mute, in which he was a band mate of Tony Award nominated singer and actor, Adam Pascal. In 1995, Mute’s self titled album was released in Japan by Zero Corporation.
In late 2003, Scott and guitarist/singer Danny Balzano recruited other local musicians for their latest project, Monkey Wrench - America’s 1st Tribute to Foo Fighters. Less than two years later, Monkey Wrench made tribute band history by performing on MTV2’s “24 Hours Of Foo”. Both Danny and Scott still continue to perform with Monkey Wrench as well as with Facelift: the Official Mike Starr/Alice In Chains Tribute Band.
In recent years, Scott has played with tributes to Foreigner and Stone Temple Pilots as well as numerous cover bands in the Long Island area. He has even had the good fortune to have performed a number of shows as bassist with Grammy Award winning producer and instrumental guitarist Larry Mitchell. Additionally, he recently received an endorsement from Valenti Basses.
Being a “child of the 80’s”, Scott is beyond thrilled to be performing his favorite Pat Benatar songs with Fire & Ice!
